About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CW 1896/97 (S5), Game 5: New South Wales vs Victoria

New South Wales 11/14 vs Victoria 9/12

Sydney Cricket Ground -

23rd - 25th January 1897

Lineups:
New South Wales - H Donnan, ACK Mackenzie, FA Iredale, JJ Kelly, SE Gregory, MA Noble, A Coningham, TW Garrett, CTB Turner, TR McKibben, WP Howell

Victoria - W Bruce, CE McLeod, H Graham, J Worrall, GHS Trott, FJ Laver, JP O'Halloran, H Trumble, AE Johns, J Carlton, W Roche

First Innings

Victoria started out looking to beat the unbeatable and give themselves a very slim chance of winning the Shield. To do this they would have win this match as well as the final game against South Australia, and beat NSW on QR.

A devastating bowling attack put paid to that plan quickly as no Victoria batsman could do better than 21.

VIC 154

CE McLeod 21
A Coningham 5-50; CTB Turner 3-31

For New South Wales their first innings total was relatively poor with little improvement on their opponents tally. But for MA Noble we would have a real game on our hands.

VIC 154
NSW 327

MA Noble 100; CTB Turner 46
W Roche 4-70

Second Innings

A wildly inconsistent Victoria side found themselves in dire straights at 6-4 after McLeod (2) was quickly followed by Graham, Worrall, and Trott, all leaving for ducks. They did rally through the middle-order to forve NSW to bat again.

VIC 154 + 232
NSW 327

JP O'Halloran 67; W Bruce 59
WP Howell 4-42

It was all over just before the end of play on day three as, after Mackenzie went very early, there was little to trouble New South Wales sweeping the season.

VIC 154 + 232
NSW 327 + 60-1

FA Iredale 32*; H Donnan 26*
W Roche 1-32

New South wins by nine wickets and retains the Sheffield Shield!
