It was clear early on that Torres had taken a dislike to the man from the Philippines and was guilty of several fouls throughout the match. The referee gave him a warning in the fifth round and instructed the judges to deduct a point from their scores.
Salavarria was very lucky to get away with his own brand of revenge, after yet another Mexican foul, when the referee failed to spot a low blow in the tenth, leaving Torres on the backfoot for the remainder of the bout. Salavarria got his man on the deck in the final round and gave all he had to his opponent, but in the end he just couldn't take him out.
