POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, vehicle, elapsed time, and top speed:

Bob Tasca III was top of the pile after the first round of qualifying ; one of four drivers to hit 300mph. Second-place Ashley Force-Hood was over two tenths behind with a pretty tight pack chasing down to eighteenth. Justin Schreifer, Cory Lee, and Leif Helander all had to pull out of their first runs due to uncontrollable rattling of the tires, while Jack Wyatt suffered a major problem with his clutch early on.
