First Innings
J Ryder and AEV Hartkopf held out the longest by far, but WJ Whitty still got to them as he did the three wickets before, single-handedly putting Victoria on a 146-5 scoreline. A second partnership between VS Ransford and CB Willis then picked up where their predecessors left off, but three round zeros at the bottom of the lineup helped stall the scoring completely for the final four wickets as RJB Townsend was brought in to great effect.

Just two scores beyond 40 and another six-wicket taker kept South Australia chasing the game. VY Richardson had scored the lions share of his teams runs by the time he was bowled by AEV Hartkopf to put them 139-6. The same bowler claimed the wicket of the only other dangerman: WJ Whitty.

Second Innings
There would be no repeat of South Australia's success in the first innings after ER Mayne and WM Woodfull made a new record for an opening parnership. PD Rundell was the one who stopped them, along with AEV Hartkopf, at the 338 mark. J Ryder also walked back for a duck, this time at the hands of Williams, but Victoria kept marching on with another century and two half-centuries from RL Park (76) and LF Freemantle (52*).

After bowling him out for 3 in the first innings PH Wallace takes the bails off again leaving AJ Richardson walking off for just 1. VY Richardson could not emulate his first score but the team did provide better suuport with another pair of fifties.
