Shinko is still the leader in the Juryo but a surprise performance from Yutakayama nearly caught him off guard, and that was not the talking point in the Juryo. After four minutes of deadlock Fujinoiwa and his Makushita opponent Kakureizan broke to take on water before resuming a long contest from their last positions. After a total of seven minutes of fierce competition Fujinoiwa finally had his man. Matsuyama will sit out the remainder of the tournament after picking up a strain in his defeat to Daihi.
