St Louis were already trailing 2-0 when Hall was replaced in net through injury but the Blues nearly cameback from 0-4 down, Sabourin (7) scoring a hat trick; Balon (2+2) and Connelly (1+2) leading the way for the North Stars.
A two point game from Wharram (1) was not enough to stop the Blackhawks losing in New York, thanks in part to Goyette who becomes the first NHLer to reach ten points, and Stratton's (3) two goals for the Penguins was not enough as Oakland win 3-2. Toronto suffered their first loss of the year at home to the Kings who had a very strong performance in goal from Rutledge who was simply unbeatable after the first period.
