Toronto remain two points clear of their rivals by matching the Bruins' six game winning streak at the start of November. F Mahovlich (11), Armstrong (9), Oliver's (6) third game winner, Ellis (11) and Walton's thre assists, making him the first player to hit forty points, broke down the Canadians in their home fortress; Lapierre (3) and G Tremblay (14) scoring for Montreal in just their second home defeat (11-2-1)
Goals from Prentice (11) and F Smith (8) were not enough as Detroit suffer a third loss in four games while New York move off the bottom of the East and over Chicago with their first win in five. Gilbert (12), Goyette (6), a game winner from Nevin (11) and two from R Stewart (7) sealing the deal.
St Louis are unbeaten in five (3-0-2) but switched off a little after taking a 4-0 lead through B McCreary (14), St Marseille (8), Melnyk (8) and J Roberts' (10) game winner making him the third Blues player to hit double figures behind McCreary and Sabourin (11). The Seals have another three-game losing run on the go; Swarbrick (6) and K Douglas (4) on the board for them.
